On our Way

Well, we are on our way finally! Today is July 27, 2023 and we are in a KOA at East Sparta, Ohio. A lot has happened since we got serious in 2022. As mentioned before, we purchased the truck, “Brutus” and picked it up in Aug 2022. Then we found the RV “Agatha” we wanted on a Black Friday Sale! We found it in Omaha, NE at AC Nelson RV. They agreed to store it for us until April when we drove out again to bring it home. Driving it home was really easy, it was our first time pulling something that big! We continued to prepare as Linda sold items on Marketplace, we downsized some more, Dan had a “Granddad’s Garage Sale”, and we sold the remaining furniture in the house. The house sold in May of 2023 and it went fast! We listed on a Tuesday, and that day received 4 showings and 3 offers, all over our asking price. We confirmed an offer that evening and closed on the house June 15th! One week after Dan retired! Woohoo!

Where did we go then you ask? Well we thought it best to stick around town for a couple weeks, say our goodbyes and wrap up any financial and medical items. So we stayed in Hoffman Park, right around the corner from our “old” house. Our family and friends had a goodbye party for us and we had a friend perform a blessing of our RV. It was wonderful to see everyone and spend time together!

Lake Wisconsin Campground was our next stop for a month. This spot is close to our daughter and son-in-law and grandkids. We had a great time here and were so thankful to be near family on our first adventure as our son-in-law helped us fix some items (a bracket bar broke on the awning, the stove wouldn’t light (actually it did but we didn’t realize it) and made a brace for the bike wheelchock so the bike would be more stable in the garage.

The last weekend we were in Sun Prairie, all of our daughters (4) and grandkids (4) came down to Sun Prairie to spend time with us. What a blessing!

Now we are in July and we’ve officially ventured on from Wisconsin. Fish Lake Family Resort in Freemont, Indiana is where we stopped for the first two nights. Upon arriving at 9:30 pm, our host “Mark” was fantastic! He helped us pull in and get situated. The first night the jacks didn’t work to extend down and the slides in the living room wouldn’t open! Luckily we were able to sleep on the couch and theater seats, not so comfy, but accepted it. The next morning we found out that there were loose connections on the solenoid and we got that fixed with Mark’s help and a video chat with Lippert support.

So now we are in a KOA in East Sparta, Ohio. When we arrived yesterday we found the dishwasher was open and we were unable to close it. It appears that one of the stop gaps on the rail was jimmied out, so I was able to put it back in place and closed the dishwasher. So far we’ve experienced many little things that need attention as we travel! Oh well, gotta love it! The KOA is beautiful and has a nice pool to relax in. We’ll stay here till Sat July 29, then on to Mount Vista Campground in the Poconos!
