It’s Gotta Go!!

In 2020 when Dan and I made the decision we were going to go on this new adventure, I quickly realized we needed to get rid of things. Lots and lots of things. Two years into this and we’ve had a couple garage sales (more like the size of flea market sales) and the third massive sale was planned for early June 2022. Last month we found out Dan is now facing major back surgery which will be followed by a probable knee surgery. Since he’s the muscle in our operation I had to refocus the upcoming sale. I broke it down into small sales held within our home. There will be a third garage sale come July, but it will be scaled down. For two weeks I held an indoor craft sale. That one stung a bit, there was an entire room in our home dedicated to scrapbooking. Keeping just a bit of things, to take on the road, we profited from that indoor sale. We are a family of varied shapes and sizes, so up next to sell, came the clothes. From 3T to 3X there were stacks and stacks of clothing. Over the course of 3 weeks, there’s been a good profit from those sales. Every bit helps, we’ve also donated some items. I’m retired from the retail business world, but have truly been enjoying the world of Facebook Marketplace and Craigs list. One of my daughters has jokingly dubbed me as a “Marketplace Influencer”. Dan still has his fulltime job, so when I can bring in $5 here and $25 there and add it to our Truck fund, it brings me a definite sense of satisfaction that I am also contributing to our common financial goals (From saving and selling items we should have enough to buy that big truck!). For the most part, I enjoy meeting the many, many people that have come through our front door.

  1. I’m sorry to hear that Dan will need major back surgery and possible knee surgery, but it’s great that you are flexible, Linda. I’m praying all goes well for you two and hopefully we’ll see you in Arkansas sometime on your journey or in the air if Jesus comes before then. Blessings, Kim
